Combining influences from indie rock to hip hop, Grammy Award nominated Scott released his fourth studio, Yesterday You Said Tomorrow, earlier this year. A combination of balads and socio-polictical dirision, Scott covers topics from hurricane Katrina, gay marrige and the US Presidential elections, to more intimate affairs of the heart.
Described as ‘a gym-ripped amalgam of edgy jazz, hip hop and rock rhythms, off-kilter ostinatos, intimate rhapsodies and full-on passions’, Yesterday You Said Tomorrow features a diverse arrangement, from a cover of Thom Yorke’s Eraser to collaborations with Prince and Mos Def.
Promotimg the show are Birmingham Jazz, the city’s tenacious bastions of this diverse musical genre. After seeing Scott perform at the North Sea Festival, Mary Wakelam, general manager of Birmingham Jazz, says, “we realised we had to introduce him (Scott) to Birmingham’s music scene. It will be an absolute pleasure to present such an assured and exceptional talent.”
